 Your New Patient Assessment gives us the opportunity to get to know you and build a complete picture of your oral health.

Before your appointment, we will ask you to provide some information about your medical and dental history. If there is anything in particular you would like us to look at or if you feel nervous about visiting the dentist, please let our team know.

During your appointment, your dentist will:

• Listen to any concerns you have about your teeth, gums or smile
• Discuss your medical and dental history
• Carry out a thorough examination of your teeth and gums
• Assess your existing fillings, crowns or other dental work
• Examine your bite and jaw
• Complete an oral cancer screening
• Take digital scans and any clinically required X-rays
• Explain their findings clearly
• Discuss any recommended treatment or preventative care
• Give you plenty of opportunity to ask questions

Your assessment includes an in-depth consultation, digital scans, clinically required X-rays, oral cancer screening and personalised preventative advice.

 If your mouth is healthy, we will help you plan the routine care needed to keep it that way.

If we identify anything requiring attention, your dentist will explain what they have found and talk you through the suitable treatment options. Where treatment is recommended, you will receive a personalised plan outlining the proposed care, any appropriate alternatives, anticipated timescales and costs.

There is no pressure to make an immediate decision. We want you to have all the information you need to choose the option that feels right for you.

 You are not alone, and there is no need to feel embarrassed.

Some patients feel apprehensive about meeting a new dentist, while others may have avoided treatment because of anxiety or a difficult previous experience. Whether it has been six months or many years since your last appointment, you will always be welcomed without judgement.
